funky Melbourne

Most of my photography time in the CBD was spent in carparks checking out the urban views and light rather than walking the streets. Tomorrow morning I return to the topographical side of the trip: I return to the South East freeway and the Moonie Ponds Creek area in North Melbourne with the Linhof 5×4.

I did manage to see the Light Works exhibition at the National Gallery of Victoria. I found it a bit ho hum, another indication that the state or public galleries are not innovative in terms of photographic culture. They tend to be very conservative in their approach to contemporary photography compared to the work on the internet. They seem to belong to the past–more a museum than an art gallery.
