The boat shed site included thirteen sheds, the majority of which dated to the 1950s and 1960s. Each shed was equipped with a pair of rails along which a fishing boat could be lowered into the water on its trolley and upon its return a winch and petrol engine was used to retrieve it.

Second Valley boat sheds

I understand that the sheds, generally speaking, were a place for housing recreational fishing boats. They were ‘discarded’ and ‘abandoned’ and were in a derelict state. The sheds were privately owned but were leased from the government.The owners weren’t interested in restoring them and so they were removed.
