There was some good photography done by photographers in South Australia in the 19th century, such as Townsend Duryea, Samuel Sweet, George Freeman, H.H. Tilbrook, Frederick Joyner and John Kauffmann. A lot of it was portrait work–eg., that by Townsend Duryea and George Freeman — but there were landscapes and urbanscapes as well.
My 8×10 black and white work will link back to their direct or frontal style of photography.
