architectural photography

Even though architecture was the backbone of visual culture in the early 2000s there is not much interesting architecture in Adelaide. Unlike says China, the money is not there, even if the desire to impress with star architects is. At least we don’t get neo-classical facades slapped onto a modern building, and the brutalists monstrosities that were completely unresponsive to the context of the built environment around them belong to the modernist past. Thankfully Adelaide missed out on the canyon of modernist blocks that turn a street into a soulless, windswept space.

Anyway, I don’t do architectural photography very well. Unlike most architectural photographers I’m less interested in the building design per se and more interested in exploring it to see what what I can make of it as a picture.
