I started to today, exploring the market whilst it was raining, then went out on the street when the weather cleared in the late afternoon. Though I live in this precinct I realized I don’t really know it as a photographer.
Why was I so reluctant?
Adelaide should have been a couple of decades into a transformative urban renewal that makes it a city that intrigues and attracts people. Instead we have many city buildings sitting idle and derelict and the ongoing release of ever more greenfield land on the urban fringe for suburban development.
Adelaide disappoints as a city. Vibrant it ain’t. They aren’t building the city that appeals directly to to people they want in the city.
