The archival photos were made when I started taking photos along the southern Fleurieu Peninsula coast in the 1990s. The reference text then was Jane Hylton, The Painted Coast: Views of the Fleurieu Peninsula south of Adelaide, Art Gallery of South, 1998.
During this decade Suzanne and I often visited and stayed with Marjorie, Suzanne’s mother at her home in Encounter Bay. Suzanne inherited the home and we would come down on weekends. I was writing my PhD at Flinders University of South Australia at the time, and both the break and the sporadic photography around Encounter Bay, were a welcome relief from the grind in a rapidly changing academia.
