Unlike Melbourne there are no plans by the Adelaide City Council or the state government to make a central street in the CBD a car free zone. A car free zone means a ghost town according to car users. It’s the green Apocalypse.

Never mind that the Australian residential real estate has reached a tipping point—in several of our capital cities it has outgrown the capacity of Australians to service the debt required to buy a property. Nope–it’s placing limits on the use of car in the CBD to give make it more pleasant or people friendly that is the problem.
