The under or darker side is one of waste and homelessness and exclusion. The exclusion under neo-liberalism leads to anxiety, despair and anger. People become melancholy figures wandering the streets and parklands.
There is no narrative in this kind of work; no decoding the city of the mythologization of Adelaide as the ‘Athens of the South’. Just these photos. To some extent it is randomly wandering around Adelaide with an point and shoot, and that is not guaranteed to produce useful urban insights.
It is a re-experiencing lived urban reality in ways other than how one is more conventionally supposed to do, and this can shine a new light on things
