wandering in Bowden

Returning to Bowden was revisiting my roots as a photographer. In the 60s and 70s Bowden was a classic textbook example of an old inner area of urban blight with mixed industry and dilapidated working class housing. Bowden started changing in the 1980s. It is now undergoing redevelopment with housing estates replacing the old industrial sites. There is now some street art in East Street near the old Gas Works by Tin Soldiers:

Bowden is becoming gentrified. The Bowden Urban Village, on the old Clipsal factory site appears to have just started. Most of the Clipsal factory buildings will be pulled down. To be replaced by another suburban Mawson Lakes?

Despite some things remaining the same the Bowden that I knew in the late 1980s has long gone. Hopefully the Gas works, some of the warehouse buildings, and the double fronted cottages have been heritage listed.
