strolling the city

The idea of a dérive was simply to follow the streets, go down the alleys, through the doors, over the walls, up the trees, etc., that one found most attractive – to wander, alone or with friends, following no plan but the “solicitation of the architecture one encountered.

This digging behind the surface of the functional drudgery of city life whilst out strolling involves an immersion in an experiential process of creative interpretation and exploration.
